The Role of Endorsements in High School
In 2013, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 5 creating a new graduation plan for Texas students—the Foundation High School Program, which changed the way high school student select their courses. Every ninth-grade student is required to choose one of five endorsements as a focus of study–a broad area of interest that guides course selection throughout high school. You’ll find the endorsement requirement in schools and school districts across Texas, but the specifications might vary slightly.
